Grief and Loss

When Life Keeps Moving and You’re Still Trying to Understand

The messages slow down. People go back to their routines.

You still reach for your phone to call someone who’s gone.

There’s a familiar place you’ve started avoiding. An ordinary moment catches you off guard.

You’re grieving a death, the end of a relationship or a future you expected to have.

The Part You Can’t Explain to Anyone

You feel sadness, anger, relief, guilt, or very little at all.

Sometimes what hurts most is how hard it is to explain any of that to the people around you.

Therapy offers space to talk about the loss and what life feels like now, without having to make the story easier for someone else to hear.

Bring the Complicated Parts

You can miss someone and be angry with them. You can feel relief after a difficult period and still feel devastated.

If the relationship was strained, there are unfinished conversations and hopes that are harder to let go of now.

I want to understand what this person, relationship or part of your life meant to you. We can talk about what you miss, what you don’t miss and what you wish had been different.

Your beliefs, culture and family experiences have a place in that conversation if they matter to you.

Support for the Life Around Your Grief

Loss leaves you with practical responsibilities when you have very little energy for them.

You’re caring for others, returning to work, sorting through belongings or deciding how much you want to share with people.

Sometimes you need help getting through the next few days. Other times you want to talk about identity, loneliness or what the future looks like.

We can work on asking for support, setting limits, and making plans for difficult dates and situations. We’ll make room for both the emotional weight and the daily decisions.

You Have Room to Remember and Room to Live

My approach is conversational and honest, with space to sit with what hurts.

I won’t treat your grief as a productivity problem or ask you to turn it into a positive lesson.

We can find ways to stay connected to what matters about that relationship while making space for your own needs.

Enjoying a moment doesn’t mean the loss mattered less. We can talk about the guilt or uncertainty that comes with beginning to participate in life again.

Loosen Your Grip on What You Can't Force

A grip loosens when somebody who can see your hands says so plainly. That's most of what happens here.

There's a version of the conversation with your son where nobody braces for it. A drive home where you walk in with something left. A bedtime that stops being a test.

You don't need to have it figured out before you start. The work asks two things: honesty in the room, and follow-through outside it.

Email me at dan@larrazintegrative.com, and we'll set up a consultation. Bring the version of the problem you'd normally keep to yourself.
