Slow Down the Conversation That Keeps Ending the Same Way

Couples therapy gives you time to understand what’s happening between you and work out what needs to change.

You start with the dishes, money, or who was supposed to make the appointment.

Before long you’re arguing about whether either of you feels appreciated, one of you explaining while the other gets defensive or goes quiet.

The conversation ends, and the hurt stays with you.

Make Room for Both of Your Experiences

I want to understand what each of you has been feeling, what you’ve tried, and what you hope for.

Then we’ll slow down the conversations that usually move too fast to be useful.

We’ll look at the sequence: what starts the tension, what each of you hears, how each response shapes what comes next.

Room for both of your perspectives comes with accountability, and I’ll be direct about hurtful behavior and the responsibility that belongs to each of you.

Work on the Moments That Matter

Sessions focus on expressing a need without an accusation, listening without preparing a defense, or taking a break with a clear plan to come back to the conversation.

We can work on resentment about responsibilities, differences in expectations, parenting stress, or the difficulty of making time for closeness.

I’ll help you connect what we discuss to specific changes between sessions, because a useful apology needs follow-through.

A new agreement has to work on a busy Tuesday, not just sound good while we’re all talking calmly in session.

When Your Trust Has Been Damaged

If an affair, dishonesty, or another breach of trust brings you here, there has to be room to name the harm and its impact.

We can look at accountability, boundaries, and what consistent repair would require.

I won’t rush the hurt partner toward forgiveness or assume that staying together is the only acceptable outcome.

If Either of You Feels Unsafe

If either of you feel afraid, controlled, or unsafe, that needs attention before we focus on communication skills.

We’ll consider whether joint sessions are an appropriate setting for the concerns you bring.

Get Clearer About Your Relationship

Some of what brings you here is quieter than conflict.

You get through the day together and feel more like roommates than partners, missing the ease you once had.

You want to rebuild closeness, interrupt a recurring conflict, or find out whether you both want the same future.

We’ll name your goals at the start and revisit them as the work develops.

Loosen Your Grip on What You Can't Force

A grip loosens when somebody who can see your hands says so plainly. That's most of what happens here.

There's a version of the conversation with your son where nobody braces for it. A drive home where you walk in with something left. A bedtime that stops being a test.

You don't need to have it figured out before you start. The work asks two things: honesty in the room, and follow-through outside it.

Email me at dan@larrazintegrative.com, and we'll set up a consultation. Bring the version of the problem you'd normally keep to yourself.
