You’ve Solved Harder Problems Than This

You’re good at this. Something breaks, you read up on it, you test the obvious fixes, and you get somewhere.

Sleep is where that stops working. You came at it the same way and got nothing that held.

The trouble moves around on you: getting to sleep some weeks, staying asleep others, and no way to tell in advance which one you’re getting.

You’ve been running trial and error on something that needs a method.

You Already Know the Pieces

You’ve read the studies. You could probably explain what all of that advice is supposed to do.

The order to run it in never came with it.

Neither did a way to tell a rough week from a plan that isn’t working.

Loose parts, no assembly.

The treatment for this is sequenced, and the sequence is the active part.

The First Step of the Plan Is a Phone Call

Your Plan Gets Built in a Fixed Order

CBT-I moves in steps, and the steps are ordered on purpose.

Each one sets up the one after it, which is why pulling the appealing parts out of the middle gets you nowhere.

You’ll get the reason for a step before you run it, and you’ll hear it from me when a step has stopped earning its place.

This is built to finish.

What the Work Asks of You

Every week has an assignment, a reason behind it, and a check on whether it moved anything.

  • What you do between sessions is where most of the treatment happens.
  • Adjustments come from what the week actually showed.
  • A rough night has a response you already know.
  • The plan holds on the weeks your motivation doesn’t.
  • The work has an end, and you’ll see it coming.

You’ll know what you’re doing and why, every week of it.

Your Three Phases, in Order

  1. Find What’s Keeping You Awake

Before anything changes, we take a baseline and I show you how to read it. That’s the ground the rest of the plan gets built on.

The plan gets built on what we measured.

  2. Retrain the Pattern

We put the steps in sequence, and you run each one long enough for both of us to see what it moved. Nothing gets added to the plan out of order.

You watch the plan get corrected in real time.

  3. Run It Without Me

As sleep steadies, the controls come over to you. You’ll know what to do with travel, a stressful stretch, and a rough patch, and what to leave alone.

The last session is part of the plan.

Why Trust Me as Your Partner in Healing

Trained for This Specific Work

I’m an LCSW, I trained at Rutgers, and CBT-I is a course of work I run start to finish rather than a technique I borrow.

The Reasoning Travels With the Plan

You’ll know what a step is for before you run it, which is what makes it possible to keep running it on a hard week.

I’ll Say When It Isn’t Working

When a piece of the plan stops earning its place, you’ll hear that from me instead of finding it out on your own.

Hi, I’m Dan.

Boys and men are often expected to handle difficult things without being given the language, support, or space to work through them. That’s why I became a therapist, and why this work matters to me personally.

I’m Dan Larrazabal. I work with teen boys and young men ages 14 to 21, and with adult men whose stress is landing on the people at home.

You don’t have to arrive excited about therapy or know how to explain what’s happening. We start with what’s happening right now.

My approach is friendly, conversational, and direct. I won’t simply agree with everything you say, and I won’t overlook the progress you’re making. I’ll be honest about where you’re getting in your own way while helping you see where you’re doing well.

The fastest way to find out is to ask me. Email dan@larrazintegrative.com to schedule a consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

You’ll follow a short set of steps between sessions and keep a simple record of what happened. What it asks for is consistency, week after week.

Yes. We work with your prescriber’s plan in place, and any change to medication stays between you and the person who prescribed it.

We look at what that week actually showed and adjust around it. A bad week is information, and the plan is built to absorb it.

Yes, adults and teens both. With teens the plan gets built around a school schedule and a real bedtime, and the steps themselves stay the same.

That’s the design. CBT-I is a course of work with a last session in it, and the point is that you walk out running your own plan.
